ZALA 421-20 History
Zala Aero Group manages a growing number of Russian-developed Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The ZALA 421-20 series is one such product for tactical use.
The product is marketed as an Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform for various industries including military, law enforcement, border protection, oil sector, firefighting, and more.
The 421-20 has a payload capacity of 50kg and can be fitted with different sets of optics and sensors according to your needs. The platform can be used to laser tag precision-guided munitions escorting attack aircraft, provide infrared (IR) high-definition camera capabilities, and provide real-time data collection/transmission to ground troops/commanders on the battlefield for further interpretation.
Available optics include HD camera, thermal zoom and still/camera, all gyro-stabilized for maximum image/video clarity.
The operational range is up to 400 km, and the mission duration window is between 6 and 8 hours. With a maximum operating height of 5,000 meters, it is powered by an internal combustion engine that drives a bladed propeller unit in a thruster configuration, enabling the vehicle to reach speeds of up to 220 kilometers per hour.
Airborne navigation is via an INS with electronic telemetry calibrated GPS/GLONASS system.
The overall design of the aircraft consists of two cantilevers that allow the central fuselage nacelle to house all relevant mission equipment and the engines themselves. The wing main aircraft is straight and the shoulders are mounted on the fuselage. From the trailing edge, outriggers form, resulting in a vertical tail supporting a single horizontal plane.
The arrangement of the fixed-wheeled tricycle chassis allows operation on rough terrain during take-off and when hauling on the aircraft.
