PZL p. 24 History
After the First World War (1914-1918), the monoplane had to wait decades before it was widely accepted on the list of world powers. Some designs were tested and refined during World War I, and developments in the 1920s accelerated these concepts further, but it wasn't until more reliable main-wing aircraft with more powerful engines began that monoplanes became the focus of future aircraft design .
Poland had been at the forefront of aviation technology along with other world powers, developing many famous monoplane fighters in the 1920s, starting with the single-seat, single-engine, high-wing PZL "P. 1". Prototype from 1929. Only two were built by the state panstwowe Zaklady Lotnicze (PZL), whose designs were attributed to the prolific aeronautical engineer Zygmunt Pulawski. Over time, the inline-driven P. 1 was further developed into the "P.
6", "P. 7" and "P. 11" radially-driven forms of the early 1930s - a pair that continued mature features , especially with its tall wing suspension, made the P. 1 prototype distinctive for its time.
Interestingly, the Polish authorities did not sell inline engines, so from now on relying on air-cooled radial engines.
By 1933, the Polish Air Force was the first country in the world to field a fighter fleet consisting of all-metal monoplanes - certainly ahead of their time.
Like the other fighters in the series, the P.24 became another slight evolution of the series. It was more or less an export version of the P.11 (325 of which were produced and entered service in 1934).
The P. 24 was a success in itself, launched in 1936 and entered service in the 1960s, with nearly 300 produced.
The P.24 prototype first flew in May 1933, and its second prototype was tested in June 1934 at 257.2 mph, breaking the airspeed record. The Paris Air Show of 1934 also established the P.24 as the best example of a modern military fighter - with the performance, handling and firepower required of this type in modern times.
Aside from its high-wing configuration - which acted as a bridge between the old biplane and the upcoming low-wing - the aircraft features a universally traditional design that follows accepted traditions. These include a nose-mounted (radial) engine, a mid-cockpit (enclosed by a canopy, another futuristic quality), and a three-plane stern configuration (one rudder, two horizontal planes). The landing gear is a traditional "smear" shape and is fixed in flight, and the main legs are spit out for aerodynamic efficiency.
Major high-wing aircraft have the perfect balance between lift and drag, and their gull-wing style is designed to aid the pilot's vision - resulting in a very controllable, high-performance solution.
Power (p. 24G) comes from a French Gnome-Rhone 14-N7 14-cylinder air-cooled radial piston engine driving a three-bladed, variable pitch, nose-mounted propeller unit. Dimensions include a length of 24.6 feet, a wingspan of 35.1 feet and a height of 8.9 feet. The curb weight is 2,930 pounds and the MTOW is 4,410 pounds. This performance enabled it to reach a top speed of 250 miles per hour, a range of 430 miles, and an altitude of 30,000 feetall extraordinary qualities of a fighter jet of the early 1930s.
Depending on the model, the fighter can use machine guns, automatic cannons, or a combination of the two. Bomb carrying capacity has been added to some to further increase tactical value.

Weapons
