2S31 History of veins

The BMP-3 amphibious infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) has proven to be a fairly versatile combat system since its inception in 1987. To date, Kurganmashzavod in Kurgan, Russia has built more than 2,000 examples of this type. Further development of this capable design to fulfill other battlefield roles and the 2S31 "Love" fire support vehicle for export markets became a natural progression. The vehicle, which began production in 1996 and officially entered service in 2010, is equipped with a heavy-duty long-barreled 120mm mortar system, allowing it to accurately deliver steady mortar fire to the target area.

The vehicles will be manufactured by Motovilikha Parts Corporation and will be exported to Azerbaijan, with around 18 delivered in total.

Fire support vehicles are an integral element of the battlefield when used in conjunction with infantry coordinated attacks, as they can provide direct or indirect firepower to drive enemy forces into hiding spots and allow Allied infantry to occupy contested terrain . To perform this role on the battlefield, the 2S31 uses proven components, making it a reliable vehicle and a stable weapons platform.

The

Vena is a 21.5 ton tracked vehicle with fully welded aluminium armour for protection against small arms fire and artillery jets. The crew consists of four people, with the driver in the center of the front of the fuselage, and the commander, gunner and loader in a three-man mobile turret. The hull has a very flat, almost horizontal sloping plate, a quality inherited from the BMP-3 vehicle. The turret has sloped surfaces for basic ballistic protection.

Twelve smoke grenade launchers are located in two rows at the front of the turret, six launchers in each row, providing the crew with some self-defense capability, whether attacking or retreating.

The heart of the 2S31 Vena system is the 2A80 series rifled 120mm gun for mortar delivery. A modern Fire Control System (FCS) is installed for accurate fire from a distance in any weather and with day or night lights. Auto sighting is a feature that quickly resets the main gun after firing to help the crew continue to fire continuously and accurately. The main gun can be raised from -4 degrees to +80 degrees, and can fire 10 rounds per minute.

The turret offers a full 360 degree rotation. The gun has a range of 13 kilometers. The mounted 7.62mm PKTM machine gun can deal with infantry threats.

Vehicle is powered by a 500 hp UTD-29 series V-12 liquid-cooled diesel engine. The vehicle's undercarriage consists of a sprocket assembly with six twin-tire wheels on each side of the body. The chain idler is mounted on the front and the drive sprocket is mounted on the rear. Three track deflection rollers help manage the upper track span. The chassis is based on an independent torsion bar suspension system that supports off-road driving.

The top speed on the road is 70 km/h and the range is up to 600 km.
