Panus 380X-1 (Phantom)

History

Thailand Panus Assembly LTD produces a full line of armored/unarmored heavy vehicles, including the 380X-1 "Phantom" series. Designed for use in contested areas, this advanced truck is capable of performing tasks such as general reconnaissance and troop transport, while providing occupant protection from small arms fire, artillery jets and hidden explosive device detonations.

Up to 11 combat-ready troops can be accommodated in the vehicle, which is operated by a driver and a vehicle commander.

The protected hull has five side-mounted sights with firing ports below - this enables the crew to engage outsiders with personal weapons while under the protection of the truck. Four wheels are widely spaced for balance, and the chassis elevates the body to mitigate the effects of explosions beneath the vehicle, while providing improved off-road capability. The spare tire is mounted externally along the rear surface of the fuselage. All windows are small arms proof. Front occupants are entered through automotive-style hinged doors, with various hatches around the top of the fuselage, and further access is through the rear of the fighting compartment.

Vehicle armor is resistant to Class 4B blasts. The engine is traditionally housed in a compartment in the bow, with the driver's seat just aft of the stern.

The dimensions of the truck include a barrel length of 8.3 meters, a width of 2.5 meters, and a height of 3.2 meters.

Power is provided by a 380hp Cummins 380 Euro 3 Series diesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system. Various onboard systems provide power to the vehicle.
