Story of the Ural Bulls

Modern armies have become lighter and faster - two qualities that serve the air elements perfectly. For the Russian Airborne Forces, their inventory has recently been modernized with the introduction of the 4x4 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) "Toros".

The car is produced under the Ural Automobile Engine Plant (UAMZ) brand and INTRALL participated in its development.

The vehicle has a 4x4 wheel arrangement that provides excellent ground clearance (520mm) and large oversized run-flat tires. With fully independent wheel suspension on each axle, the truck can go off-road with relative ease. The hull is designed to protect against small arms fire and artillery jets as well as STANAG 4569 class mine explosions. The windows are also protected against small arms fire.

The driver sits in the front left, and the passengers count up to eight combat-ready troops. The front hull is equipped with a power winch, narrow grille slats and skid plates.

The weight reaches 6800 kg. Dimensions include a barrel length of 5.1 meters, a width of 2.4 meters, and a height of 2.4 meters to the top line of the fuselage. Mounted to the front of the frame, the engine delivers 136 horsepower to all four wheels and is mated to a five-speed transmission system.

The top speed on the road can reach 85 km/h, and the cruising range can reach 1000 km.

August 2018 - The Russian Airborne Forces officially began receiving deliveries of Toros 4x4 light armoured vehicles - a continuation of the modernisation of Russia's ground forces under Putin.
