History
To avoid confusion, this is a 4x2 armoured vehicle; the other model was built during the interwar period, the 6x2. This WWI model was originally requested by the Royal Naval Air Service to rescue downed airmen far behind enemy lines and to support RNAS advanced bases.
At the time, Lanchester was one of the most reliable manufacturers for this task with Rolls-Royce. Its origins can be traced back to the testing and research of Ph.D. F. W. Lanchester Before the war, this resulted in reliable but somewhat unconventional vehicles.
RNAS had a large number of vehicles in Dunkirk in 1914, including some 25 hours. Page. and 38 hours. Page. Type Lanchester station wagon. In late December 1914, a 38 hp car was converted into an armored car.
One of its most recognizable features is the patterned turret, which Rolls-Royce also shares, but it lacks fenders, tear-off panels and electrical equipment. It was tested and converted 36 times in 1915 to complete equipment.
