History of Karl XIV Johan (1824)

HSwMS Karl XIV Johan was a ship in service with the Swedish Navy, built by the Karlskrona Naval Shipyard. It is named after Karl XIV Johann. It was commissioned in 1835 and decommissioned in 1867.

Karl XIV Johan is 53.8 meters long, 14.4 meters wide and has a draft of 6.8 meters. The machine installed in 1854 consisted of four steam boilers producing steam for the Motala corner steam engine. The total engine power is 800 horsepower.

The boat has a top speed of 6.5 knots under power and 9 knots under sail. When completed, the device consisted of 84 pieces of different calibers. The crew is 739 people.

Karl XIV Johan was laid on 8 November 1817 by the Karlskrona Naval Shipyard at its shipyard in Blekinge and launched on 10 November 1824. She entered service in 1835. Since she was abandoned in 1867, she didn't get much use.
