IJN First Snow Story

Hatsuyuki (Matsuyuki, "Matsuyuki") was the third of 24 Fubuki-class destroyers built for the Imperial Japanese Navy after World War I. When in service, these ships were the most powerful destroyers in the world. They served as front-line destroyers throughout the 1930s and maintained a formidable weapon system throughout the Pacific War.

Construction of the advanced Fubuki-class destroyers was authorized as part of the Imperial Japanese Navy's expansion plan beginning in fiscal year 1923 to give Japan the quality advantage of the world's most advanced ships. The performance of the Fubuki class was a qualitative leap over previous destroyer designs, so much so that they were designated as special destroyers (special, German). Size, powerful engines, high speed, long radii, and unmatched armament give these destroyers a firepower similar to many of the other Navy's light cruisers. The Hatsuyuki was built at the Maizuru Naval Arsenal, laid on April 12, 1926, launched on September 29, 1928, and commissioned on March 30, 1929. Originally given the name "No.

37 Destroyer" to the hull, she completed it as First Snow.
