Glock 20

History

The powerful Glock 20 is designed to take advantage of the large 10mm automatic pistol cartridge (10x25mm) developed by Jeff Cooper and approved in 1983 for the "Bren" designed by Michael Dixon himself and Thomas 10" pistol Donaus. The cartridge is intended to be a more powerful manstopper, while the Bren 10 is intended to be an advanced weapon for firing cartridges, which is done through sheer brute force while still maintaining a degree of accuracy. The Bren 10 didn't catch on, and only 1,500 were produced from 1983 to 1986. Not a company resting on its laurels, Glock GmbH is trying to capitalize on the market demand for new cartridges.

As such, the Glock 20 was designed for security and police forces to take advantage of the cartridge, production began in 1990, and it was introduced in 1991. The Glock 20 is also considered the "last shot" accurate and reliable hunting weapon on the market. , is advertised as "A Perfect 10" for its caliber.

The Glock 20 is slightly larger, longer and wider than the 9mm Glock 17 - this is achieved through the use of larger 10mm automatic cartridges. As a result, the barrel and bolt assembly are also designed to be heavier than those used in their 9mm Parabellum Glock counterparts. This revision means that only about half of the parts on this new pistol are actually identical and interchangeable with the Glock 17. Technopolymers work to reduce the inherent recoil of this powerful weapon.

According to Glock's publication, the barrel is rifled, right-handed and hexagonal with a twisted length of 250 mm (9.84 in).

Design is consistent with previous Glock products. The pistol has clean lines, a black finish and the typical Glock square slide and trigger guard. Like most other semi-automatic pistols, the 15-round capacity magazine is inserted into the bottom of the grip, with the bottom protruding slightly. Actions are short recoil and double action.

The overall length is 7.59 inches and the barrel is 4.61 inches. The curb weight is a respectable 27.68 ounces.
