History of Waters Model 1836

The Waters Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol was supplied by Asa Waters & Company from their Millbury, MA factory. The pistol features a traditional curved grip, fine wood finish, and a suitable hammer and flash disk assembly associated with that weapon classification. The attachment has been moved to the right side of the frame. The barrel protrudes from the wooden body sheath and is strapped to the front of the main body. The barrel is adorned with a simple front post.

A push rod is installed under the barrel. The triangular trigger is protected by a thin U-shaped trigger guard. The Model 1836 consisted of about 4,000 pistols ordered by the U.S. government and then purchased for just $9.

While the Model 1836 flintlock is certainly a usable flintlock, its existence is cursed as flintlock technology in the gun industry is almost over for 200 years due to the introduction of the primer firing system. Therefore, where possible, some 1836 models have been converted to new shock cap technology to expand their use.
