History of the Saab Bofors AT4-CS Light Anti-Tank Weapon

The AT4-CS (Confined Space) system is a portable, shoulder-mounted, single-use anti-tank missile system designed specifically for Designed for close range shooting, crew protective gear and sights are separated from the folding system.

The launcher body itself is made of a fiberglass reinforced structure that provides a lethal dose of anti-tank protection to standard infantry. The "confined space" approach means the system can be fired from openings in space without fear of a massive and deadly "backsplash" for the shooter or occupants around the fire extinguisher. The system is also designed to be recoilless, making it resistant to various forms of self-degrading damage, making the weapon more reliable than previous weapons of this type.

The launcher container is completely waterproof.

The ammunition itself is detached from the launcher after firing and is stabilized in flight by folding fins. Warhead variants include the High Penetration (HP) type and the Reduced Sensitivity (RS) type. The weapon weighs only 7.5 kg.
