History of Accuracy International Mk 13 (SOCOM)
The famous Remington M40 bolt-action sniper rifle has been in service with the US Marine Corps for decades since its introduction in 1966. However, the modern battlefield demands modern solutions, and the service recently introduced its successor, the UK-based Accuracy International Arctic Warfare or Mk 13 (under the Accuracy International USA brand). In service with U.S. Special Operations Command (U.S. SOCOM), the Mk 13 is a proven device for precision long-range combat against enemy elements.
The U.S. Marine Corps decision was made in April 2018, when the line was already in service with the U.S. Navy SEALs Special Forces Group.
The cabin of the Mk 13 is used for personnel stops. 300 Winchester Magnum rifle cartridge, fired from a five-round detachable magazine, with a manually operated long-action bolt-action system. Operation can integrate suppressors for stealth work against unsuspecting targets.
The front end features a three-point Picatinny rail system for accessory mounting, while the top of the receiver showcases a traditional optical mounting area. This allows operators to attach a collapsible bipod and any other accessories needed to fully customize their weapon for field work.
Together with adjustable shoulder rests, cheeks and triggers, the Mk 13 is a complete solution for the most demanding military shooter.
The total weight of the system is 5.17kg, the overall length is 1,205mm, and the barrel length is 673mm. Effective range of nearly 4000 yards.
