Springfield XD(M) Story
The Springfield Armory XDM is an updated form of the earlier XD model series, itself a descendant of the Croatian HS product HS2000. The original HS2000 was imported into the US via Intrac before Springfield noticed the design.
It had a licensed production agreement with HS Produkt and shipped the XD from there, leading a group of enthusiasts to endorse the gun as a solid alternative to the Austrian market-dominant Glocks. In 2006, HS Produkt revisited the HS2000 design and brought it back to life by incorporating a match-grade barrel assembly, revised rail details, new grip points and interchangeable tailgates for shooting customization Rejuvenate.
This weapon has been introduced to the US market by Springfield Armory, Incorporated under the designation "XD(M)".
Where possible, polymers have been used to reduce weight, and internal systems are bolt-fired (semi-automatic). The lines of the pistol are kept clean, almost futuristic, but still traditional, like modern semi-automatic pistols. All the necessary levers and knobs are in their usual places, as are the front and rear pairings.
Knurling along the length of the slide is located at the rear and front of the slide, giving the shooter some mobility to move. A small section of rail can be seen under the barrel behind the muzzle for mounting the aiming device and tactical flashlight - a requirement for modern shooters.
The pistol is divided into four main parts - grip and frame, barrel, recoil spring and slide assembly. A trigger safety and internal striker safety are standard, as is another safety on the harness.
The loading chamber gauge, which is increasingly popular on semi-automatic weapons, is also a good visual indicator of the current loading status of the firearm.
The XD(M) is sold in several forms: 3.8" model and its compact model, 4.5" model and full size OSP model, threaded barrel and 5.25" model. Competition series model. Depending on the variant, the chamber covers 9mm, .40S&W and .45 ACP.
Users actively compared the operation of the XD(M) to that of the Glock series pistols.
